Kalau boleh jujur untuk tidak terjebak menggunakan istilah “jujurly”, musim penghargaan film ini saya lalui dengan sekadar mengamati.

Memang, saya sudah menonton 95% film yang masuk nominasi Oscar kali ini. Hanya saja, timing riuh rendah musim penghargaan film kali, yang berpuncak pada hajatan akbar Academy Awards ke-94, kebetulan bersamaan dengan beberapa hal dalam hidup.

Mulai kena virus Covid-19 cabang Omicron (meskipun bergejala ringan), menghadiri virtual film markets, dan harus menonton film-film lewat screeners sebagai bagian dari pekerjaan. Yang terakhir ini yang membuat saya nyaris tak ada waktu untuk benar-benar mengikuti dan tahu who wins what, who leads what, bahkan who is what now.

Praktis saya menghabiskan sebagian besar waktu di rumah akhir-akhir ini, sambil terus mencari film-film calon unggulan dan nominasi Academy Awards di berbagai streaming platforms.

Ya, akhirnya kita sampai juga di titik ini, di mana visibiltas sebuah film ditentukan lewat jawaban dari, “Ini bisa ditonton di streaming-an mana, nih?”

Oscar pun berubah fungsi menjadi penanda atau highlight mark sebuah film, yang bisa menyaring film apa yang perlu kita tonton, dari ribuan film lain yang ada di sebuah streaming platform.

Time has changed.
